Workshop Description
The System for Analyzing Verbal Interaction, or SAVI® (pronounced like “savvy”), is a practical and compelling tool to add to your coaching, leadership development, and/or self-development practice.
SAVI® is a unique and powerful system that offers an objective map of communication behaviors based on theoretical roots in the fields of communication, group dynamics, leadership, and management. The SAVI® map pinpoints specifically what a person is saying that is likely hindering their effectiveness and provides options for different behaviors they could use. It can also help you see how your communication behaviors and patterns influence responses in others. Perhaps most importantly, SAVI® can map your internal dialogue, describing how what you’re saying to yourself (or silently to others) influences your state of mind, providing options to help you navigate to more task relevant, goal oriented, and relationship supporting behaviors.
Benefits
Originally developed as a research tool by Anita Simon and Yvonne Agazarian, SAVI® has been used for over 40 years by leaders, teams, consultants, psychologists, teachers, spouses, and parents to analyze communication patterns, reduce conflict and increase collaboration. SAVI® is a communication tool that provides a systematic, objective analysis of what makes conversations succeed or fail, based on both what we say and how we say it. This introductory workshop is relevant to anyone who wants to improve their communication skill and insight. Using SAVI®, one can intentionally and predictably:
- Identify and understand communication problems more clearly.
- Guide yourself in shifting unproductive collaborations or meetings by intervening in and changing common, unsatisfying patterns.
- Change how we come across to others when we aren't sure how – regardless of personality or style.
- Modify how we talk to ourselves as we coach and work with others.
- Apply specific, effective strategies.
