Join us for an exploration of Systems-Centered Theory (SCT) and how SCT training groups (leveraging Kurt Lewin’s T-Group approach) help develop knowledge, skills, and behaviors that enable us to understand and influence the systems in which we live.

Developed by Yvonne Agazarian, SCT is timely, relevant, and successfully used in organizational, educational, community, and clinical contexts. This year the International Journal of Group Psychotherapy identified Yvonne’s 1992 article describing SCT’s systems approach as one of the six most influential articles that have been used in classes and trainings.

Systems-Centered Training’s most powerful method (practiced in the training group context) is operationalizing respect when relating to differences – when we hate what another person is saying and there's a pull to hate the person saying it. We can learn how to relate to the frustration that is created (vs. stuffing it or having a fit), we can explore the subsequent impulses to target and blame (vs. enacting those impulses), and we can learn from our normal human impulses so that we develop as individuals, teams, and organizations.

Learning to build a systems-centered group, team, or organization requires that we learn how to become more curious and collaborative across the various roles in our lives, how to take up our roles as change agents for ourselves and others, and importantly, how to not take things “personal.”
